10 Weight loss tips for lazy girls
Not everyone has the time to spend hours down the gym and for some, eating on the go is the only option. So, is it possible to lose weight without becoming a health and fitness fanatic? The answer is ‘yes’, and you don’t need to starve yourself to do it. You can lose weight gradually by making just a few changes in your lifestyle and habits. If that sounds like a good idea to you, read these ten tips on how you can lose weight, the lazy way:
1. Cut out or, at least, cut down the junk food
Fast food is quick and easy, but it does also contain a lot of fat, salt and sugar. If you can’t cut it out, then, at least, look for the healthiest option on the menu. Most fast food restaurants now offer lighter options, so check them out, next time you’re waiting to be served.
2. Use the stairs, not elevator
You can improve your fitness and lose some pounds just by choosing the stairs, when you have the option. It’s a cheap and easy way to lose weight and it’s often quicker, than waiting for the elevator.
3. Make sure that you are getting enough sleep
Sleeping off the calories seems to be a strange thing to suggest, but many studies have found that people who don’t get enough sleep are far more likely to become obese. If you don’t get your eight hours, then you can feel tired and will try to compensate for this by eating more.
4. Are you hungry or are you simply thirsty?
Only eat when you are hungry. Overeating becomes a habit and we often eat simply, because we are bored. Make the effort to only eat when you really need to, and you will soon begin to see the difference.
5. Cut down on salt
Too much salt in your diet can lead to serious medical problems and it can also lead to water retention. Try cutting out salty snacks and check the food that you buy for sodium content. You probably could also throw away the salt shaker at home, as most foods, have enough salt in them already.
6. Watch your portions
Rather than cut out foods, try cutting down on them instead. If you cut down your portion sizes, you will barely notice the difference, but it could make a big difference in the total number of calories you are taking on board every day.
7. Exercise while watching TV
TV ads are so boring, so why not get up and lose a few calories when they come on. A few star jumps or a bit of running on the spot won’t take a lot of effort, but it will all add up to more lost calories.
8. Experiment and cook your own food
Whenever you eat out, you are probably taking on board more calories, than you need. It may take a bit more effort to cook your own, but you know exactly what’s in it and you’ll be able to have your own way, so get in some fresh ingredients and see what you can rustle up. You even get to burn some calories doing the preparation and cooking.
9. Do everything just a little bit faster
There are hundreds of opportunities, every day, to turn ordinary tasks into weight loss opportunities. Just making the bed or cleaning the kitchen, if done a little faster, can become a form of exercise. So, the next time you do the chores, put on some music, pump up the volume and lose some pounds!
10. Think of it not as a diet, but as a way of life
A diet is a one off effort that quite likely will have to be repeated. It’s actually far easier and more effective to take what some may call the lazy approach. Just start being a little more careful about what you eat and become a bit more physically active. You won’t lose weight as quickly, but what you do lose, you are more likely to keep off.
