10 Super Useful Tips For Girls Who Want To Nail Their Weight Loss Goals
You tried to go on a diet and it sucked.
You tried hitting the gym at 6am and that sucked, too.
Losing pounds is torture, right? So why do we bother?!
Actually, shedding weight doesn’t have to be torture. If you’re smart about it, it can actually be really easy.
And even kinda fun.
You don’t need to act on every single tip below, but adopting a handful of them can bring you closer to your weight loss goals than you are at the moment. So let’s take a look at 10 super useful tips for girls who want to lose weight.
Snack The Right Way
Yup, it’s totally fine to snack. But there are two types of snacking:
The wrong way to snack is to gorge on sugary treats in the workplace because you skipped breakfast and are now dying at your desk.
The right way to snack is to munch away on blueberries, nuts or protein bars in the middle of the afternoon to give you an extra boost of energy before dinner.
So swap your current snacks for healthier ones and you’ll be A-okay.
Add Foods
Taking foods of your grocery list doesn’t always work, but adding foods does.
Of course, you have to add the right foods.
Adding healthy goodies to your diet, such as blueberries, mangos, grapes, celery, strawberries and so on, is a great way to lose weight.
Moreover, you should also consider adding herbs and spices to your meals which boost metabolism, such as pepper.
Cooking with garlic each day is also a fab idea.
Eat Breakfast
Do you eat breakfast? Lots of women don’t. They say they either don’t have the time in the morning or they just don’t feel like it.
Unfortunately, they certainly feel like wolfing down chocolate bars when they get to the office, though.
A big, healthy, nutritious breakfast is always the best way to start a day. It loads you up with the right nutrients needed to blitz your way through work, and it will also stop from you reaching for sugar-drenched snacks mid-morning because you’re so filled up.
There are lots of healthy breakfasts you eat, but my personal favourite is scrambled eggs with salmon.
You Don’t Need To Work Out
The first thing many of us think we have to do when we decide to lose weight is hit the gym.
And that’s when our goals fall apart because we realise that we just don’t have the motivation or the energy for this!
But you don’t have to work out. Sure, you have to exercise, but it doesn’t mean that you have to sweat it at the gym at 6am. Instead, why not be a bit more creative?
For example, you could go bike riding or play volleyball. You could even just wash the car vigorously, or play frisbee on the beach.
Or, you could just make love more often …
Reduce Your Alcohol Intake
Okay, so you don’t need to diet like some crazy person or hit the gym like a bodybuilder to lose weight. But you do have to make some sacrifices, and cutting down on the booze is one of them.
Alcohol is a diuretic, which means that it’s really fattening. And for as long as you keep downing the cocktails each weekend with the girls, you’re going to really struggle to nail your weight loss goals.
It’s totally okay to treat yourself to a drink at the weekend. But for now, why not follow each alcoholic drink up with a glass of water? Cutting out booze during the week is also a good idea.
Get Walking
When I tell people they should walk more often if they want to lose weight, they always pull a face as if I’ve told them to walk from one end of the world to the other.
But when I say walk more often, I don’t mean you have to take things to the extreme. Instead, you can be a bit creative.
For example, instead of taking the lift to floor 3, why not climb the stairs?
Instead of getting off the bus at your stop, why not get off three stops earlier?
Instead of driving the kids to school, why not walk them?
Eat From Smaller Plates
Before the 1960’s, the average American dinner plate was considerably smaller than it is now. For one reason or another, it suddenly got bigger.
These days, we all eat from big plates. And we mostly all fill our plates full of food, and feel compelled to eat it all
A great psychological trick is to eat from a smaller plate. You’ll still feel satisfied, but you’ll also lose weight over the long term.
Eat More Fruit
Fruit is really low on fat, and it’s very high in water. This makes it the perfect food to eat if you’re looking to lose weight.
Fruit can also fill you up nicely. Avocado in particular is really good at keeping us satisfied for a long time.
To really double down on fruit, you could make your own fruit smoothies, or buy them from the store. Fruit smoothies are stuffed with essential micronutrients, and they can act as a healthy substitute for the fattening foods you usually rely on.
Don’t Go Hungry
A common mistake to make when trying to lose weight is to starve ourselves during the day. We assume it’s a good thing because we’re not eating.
But when it comes time for dinner, we gorge on everything inside the house.
Not cool.
It’s better to keep your blood sugar levels well regulated by eating properly during the day. Don’t overdo things, but snacking smartly will prevent you from overeating later in the day.
Sleep More
Can sleep really help you to lose weight? Sure it can.
Research has shown that sleeping an hour than you usually do can help you to lose more weight. This is because sleep essentially controls your diet.
When we don’t get enough sleep, we feel lethargic and grumpy. But guess what? Our fat cells feel the same way! Without enough sleep, your fat cells struggle with what we call “metabolic grogginess.” And over time, your body will eventually find it hard to properly use insulin. What basically happens next is you put on weight.
Stay happy and healthy!
Dropping pounds is seriously hard, even under the best of circumstance
