MAINTAINING YOUR WEIGHT OVER THE FESTIVE SEASON.....
Itâs that time of the year again when having a good time includes mouthwatering food, calorie induced beverages, and the all time South African favourite - a braai. The end result is usually weight gain and failed diets but this doesnât have to be the case.
The festive season is one season where temptation to eat just about everything is huge and the ability to stick to your diet is at an all time low.
For some, this is the happiest time of the year and for the rest itâs somewhat bitter, and a difficult one because of the endless invitations. However, there is no need to say no to those invitations or to stick to rabbit food. You can still enjoy the festive season to the fullest without missing out on what makes it important and special.
Use these tips from The Diet Everyone Talks About
Be realistic
In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet you need to understand that dieting is a long-term goal and lifestyle change that you need to stick to and be committed to. Planning is vital, so during the festive session choose foods that are low in carbohydrates and are fresh.
There is no reason not to enjoy your Christmas lunch, just donât overload on carbs. Rather save the carbs for a piece of delicious dessert.

Have a schedule
In the evening eat early and at the same time every day. This way your body will get used to your schedule and your metabolism will have enough time to digest the food before you go to sleep.
We all get busy around this time of the year but try not to skip meals.
Sleep, sleep and sleep
Itâs true what they say - you do need eight hours of sleep to be healthy. Always try to get enough sleep. Your body needs to rest.
Hydrate
Try to drink as much water as possible to stay hydrated and if all else fails then drink at least six glasses of water a day. If you donât like the way water tastes, spice it up by squeezing lemon or other citrus into it.
It might be hard at first but refrain from caffeine containing soft drinks. Avoid milk or milk powder and yoghurt.
Load up on vitamins
Load up on lots of vitamins like vitamin C or B to boost your immune system.
Keep it fresh
Keep it fresh and mix it up so you donât get bored. In between meals snack on biltong, salads or try The Diet Everybody Talks Aboutâs Snacki Packi.
Keep moving
Regular exercise is responsible for up to 33% of your weight loss total and accelerates your metabolic rate. Whatâs great is that your metabolic rate will remain high for up to 15 hours after exercising.
We are experiencing warmer weather so keeping active shouldnât be that hard. Do seven 25-minute sessions per week or three 30-minute sessions per week - and this doesnât have to be at the gym.
Why not take a walk rather than driving or swim with your kids?
The Diet Everyone Talks About isnât a quick fix but a life-style adjustment that guarantees long-term results.
