Often, we may find that we tend to consume more than our portion size if we have a plate full of finger foods as a meal, instead of a main course. It is also much harder to keep track of portion size with finger foods.
More calories
This results in us taking in more calories. Think about it. Your main course may comprise a piece of meat, half a plate of vegetables and a portion of carbohydrates. A plate of finger foods will most likely be deep fried, high fat and high sugar foods â all of which are high in calories!
Balanced meal
A conventional main course may thus be more balanced, containing foods from all the food groups and thus providing more health benefits.
Avoid resorting to eating finger foods as a meal if you are aiming to lose weight. If you are at a party, then stay aware and be conscious of what and how much you are eating.
