Winter is notorious for stocking up on those good old-fashioned comfort foods and giving in to those sweet or savoury cravings...
But in order to keep those pesky extra kilos at bay, we need to be clever about it. That doesnât mean that we should eating nothing but carrots and celery. We can indulge a little and enjoy our food without overdoing it during those bitterly cold months.
Hereâs how:
Instead of sitting under warm blankets for long periods of time, get up and move around every now and then. Do a couple of jumping jacks or jogging on the spot to warm up your body and burn a few kilojoules!
Fill up on bowls of hot tasty homemade soups and plates of oven-roasted veggies when the comfort cravings start. Limit those creamy pasta dishes to once every other week instead.
Enjoy a cup of warm herbal tea between meals. Without adding any sugar or milk, these are virtually kilojoule-free.
You donât need to cut out all your favourite comfort foods during winter. Just eat bite-sized portions of them - or eat them in moderation - and move your body in order to stay warm and keep those extra kilos at bay.
