Even though most women canât wait to get their pre-pregnancy bodies back, it is advisable to try and lose weight slowly after pregnancy.
Baby Centre advises women against going on a rigid and restrictive diet. They say that the majority of nursing women require between 2 000 and 2 700 calories a day, as this will help to nourish themselves and the baby.
Rapid weight loss not good
Mothers who are breastfeeding their babies should be aware that rapid weight loss could cause a reduction in milk supply.
Watch your calories
Baby Centre suggests that losing approximately 0,68 kilograms per month is safe and won't affect your milk supply if you're breastfeeding. This can be achieved by reducing your calorie intake by 500 calories per month or by increasing your activity level.
Always consult your doctor if you need more advise about weight loss after pregnancy.
