Have you ever wondered how long it takes fat to reach our waistline after weâve consumed a meal?
Well, according to studies from Oxford University, it takes approximately three hours.
What happens after we consume a large meal?
According to Iol, about 60 minutes after having a large meal, dietary fat enters our blood stream. Approximately two hours thereafter, most of this fat is found in the adipose tissue â which is the fatty tissue located predominantly around our waist.
Example
After three hours of consuming a meal that contains 30g of total fat, about two to three teaspoons of fat will be found in tissue that surrounds the waist.
What happens to this fat?
The fat is stored and is available to us as an energy source. However if we overeat, more fat will accumulate and we will gain weight.
