This exercise targets your abs as well as hip flexors.
Runners World says that the L-sit can be performed by doing the following.

  1. Sit between two raised platforms, on the floor.

  2. Keep your legs straight and together.

  3. On top of each platform, place a hand.

  4. Extend arms and lift your body off the floor while bringing your knees towards the chest.

  5. Hold for 10 seconds.

As you become stronger
Try and work up to 30 seconds. As you become stronger, you could try extending one leg. Hold for 15 seconds before switching legs. Graduate to holding position with both legs straight.
