The diet was tested by Mark Haub, a professor of human nutrition at Kansas State University.
The diet gained popularity after Haub lost about 13 kilograms as he was able to reduce his daily calorie intake by 800 calories.
Note that any decrease in calorie intake can lead to weight loss.
So is following this diet to lose weight, a good option?
According to critics it is not advisable to adopt this diet as it can lead to negative health consequences.
The diet lacks valuable nutrients and you may start to have nutrient deficiencies. You could also develop an inflammation in the cardiovascular system since the majority of the calories was gained from refined carbohydrates.
In addition, it is important to remember that not many people may have as much discipline, self-control and food knowledge as Haub.
If you do need to lose weight, consult your doctor and chat to a dietician as well regarding your current eating patterns and diet. It is not advisable to follow any diet plan without getting professional advice first.
