Most often, it might feel as though the scale has some manipulative power to control how you feel about yourself for the rest of the day.
Especially when you don't see the numbers you were hoping for. Losing weight shouldn't be about an obsession with the scale or letting those digits dictate how you feel about yourself.
Instead, why not try giving up weighing yourself for a few weeks? You can still lose the weight without stressing about all those numbers. All you need to do is ask yourself these five simple questions every day:
How do I feel in my clothes? Are my clothes tight, loose, comfortable, etc? Do I feel confident in them?
How did I sleep? Did I have insomnia, wake up during the night or have loads of energy when I woke up?
How do I feel overall? Moody, anxious, fatigued, lethargic, energised, or happy?
How do I look in the mirror? A mirror can tell you a lot more about your body and weight loss progress than what a scale ever could.
How are my fitness levels? Do I run out of breath climbing the stairs? Do I feel stronger? Do I have more energy?
When you forget about the numbers on the scale and start focusing on how you feel, you'll realise a lot more about your body. You'll look forward to feeling more energised every day, and you'll start focusing on what food you eat and what exercises you do that make you feel good. Before you know it, you'll be shedding those extra kilos without the scale!
For best results, write down how you feel every day in a notebook. Include what you ate and any exercises you did. That way you'll be able to keep track of your short and long-term weight loss progress!
