We already know that cakes, jam and fruit juices contain sugar. But what most of us don't realise, is that a lot of other foods contain it too. Things we may consider healthier, containing less fat, for example. Or savoury products.
The truth is, sugar is sneakily added to a ton of unexpected foods. So if you're serious about limiting the amount of sugar you eat, be on the lookout for these sugar-laden foods:
Bottled tomato pasta sauces.
Most fat-free or low-fat products.
Packaged store-bought bread.
Salad dressings.
BBQ sauce.
Pretzels and crisps.
In low-fat or fat-free products, sugar is added to enhance the flavour to make up for the fat that's been removed.
