It seems that eating a breakfast high in animal protein may assist you in resisting snacks through the day.

According to WebMD, a study was carried out in which a group of young women who were obese, were asked to include approximately 35 grams of animal protein with their breakfast, whilst the other group did not do this.

Results The participants who consumed the protein reported that they felt fuller immediately.

What protein was eaten? The participants consumed a breakfast that contained 350 calories in total. The protein component of the meal included eggs and a beef sausage patty (unfortunately, these are foods with well-documented bad health records!)

Effect The women who consumed the animal protein seemed to consume fewer unhealthy snacks (that is high sugar and high fat snacks) throughout the day.

So if you are finding that you are consuming too many unhealthy snacks daily, try adding some animal protein to your breakfast and enjoy the benefits it has to offer!
