Jump start your New Year's resolutions before ringing in 2015 to get the ball rolling on your healthy or weight loss goals.
Think about it: this way you'll feel less pressured once January hits, and you won't feel so guilty about all those tempting holiday foodies!
As with any resolution or goal, the trick is to be realistic about it.
Don't set enormous resolutions like promising to lose 10 kilos by March.
That's a gigantic goal, and it doesn't sound like a lot of fun either. You need to put a positive spin on your resolutions, and set bite-sized goals.
Write down or type up a maximum of five realistic goals you want to achieve next year.
Now break these up into small mini goals. For example, if you want to lose 10 kilos by July, split this amount over seven months. Your goal would be to lose a total of 1,4 kilos each month.
Develop a specific plan to reach your goals. For example, commit to eating healthier and getting more active. Draw up a weekly fitness and family meal plan.
Stay positive and enjoy the journey. It's not meant to feel like a chore or something that you have to do.
