The holiday season is usually a common time for parties, get-togethers and social functions. This is the time when most people eat and overeat, thus leading to an intake of excess calories.
Look at all the food options available to you before indulging in the first ones you see. Opt for the healthier foods, but if you are tempted to savour some high calorie foods then try to keep your meal balanced as far as possible. For example if your main course is high in calories then opt for a light starter such as a salad, and a light dessert such as some fruit.
Remember to be aware of how much you are eating, as many people gain weight easily just by eating more than their body requires to carry out their daily activities.
If you are presented with a larger portion size than you require, keep some aside for another meal or snack, before starting your meal. In this way, you will have to stop after you take your last bite.
