Grapefruit is a citrus fruit- just like oranges. However, many people do not quite enjoy the taste of grapefruit as its taste may be described as a combination of sour and bitter to some. But once you give it a chance, you just may find a new favourite!
Grapefruit has been known for its ability to help reduce our insulin levels. This in turn allows our body to break down the ingested food efficiently in order to release energy which we can use – instead of storing it as fat.
In addition, grapefruit is loaded with fibre and this keeps us feeling fuller for a longer period of time. We may, therefore, be less likely to turn to unhealthy snacks that make us gain unwanted calories! This is great for weight loss!
So, give grapefruit a try, if you haven’t before – you could consume it as is, have some slices with your yoghurt for breakfast or snack time or even add it to a fruit salad if you like. The choices are endless!
