Our body requires water in order to carry out its daily functioning. It keeps us feeling fresh, energised and well hydrated so that we can get on with our activities.
But how exactly does water aid weight loss?
Well, water does not contain any calories. So while you are getting the above mentioned benefits from it, it will not add to your daily calorie count.
According to the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, consuming approximately 500ml of water has the potential to increase your metabolic rate by about 30%. This may help your body to burn fat at a much quicker rate.
So what can you do?
Simple. Just opt to consume water instead of other high calorie beverages. You can do this whenever you feel thirsty or even during meal times.
You could also try having a glass of water in the place of your afternoon cup of tea or coffee. In addition, you may find that you are less inclined to consume sweet treats when having water instead of a warm beverage – so this will help you to consume fewer calories as well!
Try carrying a bottle of water around with you whenever you leave the house (if you don’t already do so!). This will serve as a constant reminder to keep yourself healthy and hydrated with just water and you will enjoy keeping the weight off!
