Many people are guilty of allowing the current season to change their eating and exercising habits. For example, whilst fruits and vegetables are sometimes regarded as ideal snacks during the warmer months, they are often ignored and often not even purchased when temperatures are much cooler. Instead high calorie and sugar-coated foods such as cakes, pies and other pastries tend to be favoured during this time – not forgetting the warm beverages that may be loaded with calories!
Try not to make drastic changes to your eating plan when the seasons change, especially if you are trying to lose weight. Treating yourself now and again or indulging in a craving is fine – just don’t overdo it and make it a daily occurrence.
Don’t forget portion control as it is very easy to pile on the comfort foods when lounging on the sofa during times when the weather is much colder than the average days.
Adapt your exercise programme depending on the weather. For example, instead of going for a run when it is raining outside, engage in other calorie burning exercises indoors, such as dancing, doing yoga or Pilates.
The important thing is that you make changes that do not greatly impact on your calorie burning efforts and eating plan when the seasons change.
