Although protein bars are convenient and may appear to be the ideal option when you are busy and unable to prepare a proper, nutritious and healthy lunch, it is best to read what is on the food label before diving in.
There are many different varieties of protein bars on the market these days and each one may contain different quantities of some ingredients. Read carefully and compare several options before making your choice as some protein bars may contain just as many calories as regular chocolate bars.
Remember that if the protein bar is intended to be a meal replacement, then 350 calories or a little more may be adequate, however if you are considering having a protein bar as a snack, then you may be increasing your calorie count more than you know. Therefore it is important to find a protein bar that has a much lower amount of calories – if it is to be consumed as a snack.
Note that the food labels of protein bars should reflect a far higher quantity of protein than the usual chocolate bars.
