OK, so I have a sweet tooth. A VERY sweet tooth. If I don't discipline myself I can eat mountains of sugary foods in record time, leaving me feeling like a blimp for the next 24 hours. How do I deal with it?
Yup. Keeping a slab of good quality (you know the brands) 70% dark chocolate in the cupboard for those times when an apple or some peanut butter won't cut it allows me to escape my sugar cravings unscathed.
If I'm desperate for something sweet, I'll have two blocks of dark chocolate and walk away feeling satisfied and not guilty in the least. I'm not going to claim that "it's actually really good for you" because although there are some minor health benefits, it's not a miracle food; overall it's not a healthy choice, but it isn't terribly BAD for you.
And that's why it earned itself a spot in my Perfect Pantry.
