Make losing weight a step-by-step process whereby you initially make small changes to your lifestyle before making bigger ones. For example, if you must have a high calorie snack twice a day, try cutting down to just one in the first week instead of having nothing at all. As you begin to feel comfortable with substituting the high calorie snack with a much healthier one, then only should you attempt to cut down on the other snack.

You could also drop the portion size of unhealthy foods and substitute with healthy foods. Fruits and nuts make excellent snacks as well as other fresh vegetables do. They are also high in fibre which will help you to feel full much quicker.

Keep yourself motivated and reward yourself when targets are met. Try not to use food as a reward and opt for rewards that will improve your chances of losing more weight, for example, buy yourself new running shoes and increase your outdoor activity during the week.
