Exercise helps you to lose weight for a number of reasons, one of them being that your body uses more energy when it has to do challenging things like lift heavy weights or run fast.
If you want to lose weight, you want that energy to come from stored fat - less stored fat equals lighter, leaner body.
Many people who are trying to use exercise as a weight loss tool ADD EXTRA CALORIES TO THEIR DIET WHEN THEY START EXERCISING. This makes NO sense!
