Here are three reasons why you should not skip meals.

Consumption of junk foods

Skipping meals will definitely leave you feeling hungry and lethargic due to a lack of energy. Most people turn directly to junk food to fill this void. Foods that are high in sugar and fat will immediately increase your daily calorie count without providing you with nutrients – an easy way to gain weight unnecessarily!

Metabolism

Your metabolism may eventually slow down if you make a habit of skipping meals on a regular basis. Your body may thus not burn food as efficiently as it did before as you would have trained it to conserve as much energy as possible for times when it does not receive any from food.

Blood sugar levels

Skipping meals will also cause your blood sugar levels to drop. This may cause you to feel irritable, sluggish and fatigued. Continously avoiding meals may affect your body’s insulin levels and over time this may lead to diabetes.
