Many people tend to receive delicious, high calorie treats as festive gifts or even as tokens of appreciation. So what do you do? Do you take it home to share with your family, pass it off to someone else who may appreciate it more than you do or are you guilty of tearing through the packaging and tossing a couple of treats into your mouth before someone walks through the door (and you may have to share!)?
If you are watching your weight, then maybe think twice before you indulge. Most confectionary items are loaded with sugar and/ or fat and this can add hundreds of calories to your daily calorie count, especially if you don’t stop until the bag or box is emptied.
Rather share it with others, or consider keeping it as a treat for a day when you really need it. In this way, you will be able to control your weight more easily. In addition, remember to watch your portion size, as most edible gifts are not intended to be consumed by one person at a single sitting.
