A popular low-carb diet is the ketogenic diet (also known as 'keto'). This is a high-fat, high- (or medium-) protein, low-carb diet.

On this diet the focus is getting the carb intake so low that the body goes into a metabolic state called ketosis, in which it has to convert fat into energy for the brain to function, producing ketones as a by-product. In order to accomplish this, carbs are usually limited to less than 50g per day.

One side effect to take note of: You're going to be buying LOTS of breath mints on this diet for your bad breath. Make sure they are sugar-free.
