A simple way to maximise the number of calories you burn is to complete tasks or jobs by yourself. For example, if you have 11 boxes containing items that are to be stored away in the garage, carry them yourself – of course one at a time! You may however be able to carry two boxes depending on their weight.

It may mean making a few consecutive trips but you can do it! Alternatively, you can carry them in batches – perhaps, carry three consecutively, four an hour later and the remainder a while thereafter.

Note that you should never try to accomplish a physical task on your own if it is not humanly possible – instead aim to complete the ones that can be achieved even if you have to put in a little more effort into the task than you usually do! Avoid asking for help unless you really need to.
