One of the HUGE issues associated with dietary balance is understanding that ALL IS NOT ALWAYS AS IT SEEMS when it comes to many ‘diet’ foods.
As an example, we'll look at one very popular food and then discuss the real solution to the problem:
A quick search of the internet will yield a huge number of memes dedicated to one particular food: BACON. It's everyone's favourite food (yes, it does taste amazing!), and has become one of the main proteins promoted in high protein, high fat diets.
If you want to follow a high fat, high protein diet (I don’t recommend them), then make sure you know what you’re eating, and you’re honest with yourself about what you’re putting into your body.
High fat, high protein diets mostly exclude sugar …
So then explain how bacon fits the bill? Check out the list of ingredients on your bacon packaging – SUGAR is a very prominent ingredient. Read a little further down the list and you will find a high sodium content as well as a number of other chemicals used in the production of bacon.
How is this DIET food?!
Let's talk solutions: Try to eat only foods with no ingredient list on the packaging - that is foods that are in their most natural state. Bacon is a PROCESSED food, a piece of steak is much less processed than that. An apple is even better!
Be aware, take responsibility for your own health. Make sure that you ALWAYS read the ingredients list, and don’t just take someone else’s word for it.
