Make a list of activities that you do weekly whilst sitting. Then determine which of these activities or tasks can only be done whilst sitting and eliminate those from your list.

Whenever it is possible, try to engage in the remaining tasks whilst standing as opposed to sitting. For example, watching television can be done whilst standing upright. You can take calorie burning even further by beginning to jog on the spot, once you begin to feel tired or bored with standing.

Doing this regularly will help you to burn more calories in the long run as compared to the number that you would burn from just sitting. It may be useful if you re-arrange your furniture accordingly so that you will be more encouraged to stand instead of sit.

Remember to take your physical health into consideration before making this change especially if you suffer from any medical conditions and for some reason are required not to place your body or yourself under any form of stress or strain.
