If you worry about overeating when attending work or social functions that offer buffets during meal times, then stop for a minute or two before diving in.
Use this time to properly view all the foods that are on offer at the buffet before hastily helping yourself to everything that's there. Be wise with what you choose. For example, at the salad bar, select salads that have no heavy dressing or high calorie ingredients (such as some cheeses) added to them.
Opt for lean meat as opposed to the fatty cuts of meat. Go for skinless chicken or enjoy some fresh fish if it is on offer. Remember that gravies and sauces are often high in calories so limit yourself to overindulging on them.
Whilst it is relatively tempting to want to sample all the food there is on offer, don’t forget about portion size and the effect it has on your weight. Rather try a little of the foods that you want to taste instead of big portions of everything. Watching your portion size is key to losing weight!
