The problem is, not every diet works for everyone. And most diets are too restrictive for people to follow consistently. So even if they lose a few kilos in the beginning, they aren’t able to stick to the plan, and end up right back where they started.
Basically they just make their lives miserable on a restrictive, unrealistic diet, and then don't see any positive change in their bodies to motivate them to continue. This is especially true when it comes to stubborn tummy fat which is often the most difficult weight to shift.
If you're one of these people, here are five reasons you may be struggling to lose weight:
Many people who like to snack do so when they're not thinking - and then forget that they ate something.
I know people who pick at food while they cook a meal, and then eat the entire meal which essentially means they have eaten 50% more than they remember eating. People who keep food around the house or people who stand in front of the fridge and eat directly from the shelves are in the same boat.
Those who snack at their desks while they are working often end up going through an entire packet of biscuits or huge bowl of ‘healthy’ nuts without noticing. Yes, nuts are a great snack, but they still contain fat calories (and salt). So make sure you limit your snack sizes and don’t allow your brain and stomach to disconnect.
The way to solve this is simple. If you're going to eat something, make it a rule that you will sit down and have a ritual (say a prayer of thanks, for instance) before you eat. Never just shovel food down your throat while driving your car, cooking a meal or working.
