While I don't consider all overweight people to be addicted to food - though some might be - the same step is a necessary fundamental strategy if you hope to lose weight with any measure of long-term success.
If you think about the times when you make poor food choices they will fall into a similar set of circumstances, and usually be accompanied by similar people (or occur when you're alone).
Write a list of people, events and items that make you more likely to make bad food choices and then either avoid them (in the case of items), deal with them (in the case of external events) or chat to them to find a solution (in the case of people).
What you MUST NOT DO is try to believe that you will overcome this in isolation, or by thinking it'll 'just go away'. It won't work. You have to adopt the attitude of 'deal with the problem place/person/item, or don't go there'.
It may be a sacrifice, but that comes with the territory, I'm afraid.
