When you start your weight-loss journey, there is a good chance that you’re losing kilograms quicker than you could have imagined. But every now and then the weight loss stops, or worse, you start gaining weight again.
It's enough to send even the most dedicated health nut into a state of despair, but it doesn't have to spell the end of your healthier lifestyle.
Follow these simple tips to keep you weight-loss journey going:
For as long as I can remember, I've been scheduling my to-do list for the day. I schedule everything from what projects I have for the day to what groceries I need to get on the way home. Since starting my weight-loss journey, I schedule my meals and workouts too. This way I am treating being healthier with as much importance as I treat my day job.
Another great tip is to schedule some of the group exercise classes that your gym offers like they’re client appointments so that you’re committed to going. Having your week laid out in a diary or day planner will show you that you do have plenty of time to exercise and get all of your meals in. Plus, it helps keep you accountable to your goals.
I will be the first to admit that I still struggle with being a morning person, but that doesn't mean I'm not trying.
With our insane schedules, we often forget about making healthy choices and grab a takeaway breakfast before toughing it out in traffic on the way to the office. Waking up earlier will give you more time to make yourself a wholesome and healthy breakfast, and you can swap your evening gym session for the morning.
After a long day in the office, it becomes really easy to find a thousand reasons why you shouldn't go to the gym. That is why when you move your gym session to the morning, you’re starting your day by working up a sweat and feeding yourself with a healthy breakfast. It should be part of everyone’s daily routine.
Sometimes something as simple as writing down what you’re eating and how much water you are drinking can help you keep track of your weight-loss goals.
Keeping a food diary might be considered old fashioned, but it is still a really effective way of becoming aware of when you’re cheating, or forgetting, or slipping up. Better still, it offers a tangible reference for you to see where you’re going wrong when the tape measure isn’t playing along.
It is as easy as writing down your daily meals, any snacks or other foods or drinks consumed, and how your energy level and mood was for that day. You can take it a step further and journal your workouts for the day too.
By adding these three tips to your weight-loss journey, you’re giving yourself more options to achieve your goals and lead a healthier life.
