Yes, I'm saying it's a myth that fat DOESN'T make you fat!
It's become the popular thinking lately that carbohydrates - principally sugar - are causing the giant weight gain we are seeing all around the Western world. Fat has been given a place in the sun as something that makes us THINNER ... However it has not always been this way.
For ages, fat was seen as the cause of obesity. It changed for a number of reasons: SOME solid research findings, lots of people needing to sell more food, lots of people needing to sell new diet books, and a public who loves the idea that bacon is a diet food.
It lies in a murky area which is less easy to define. But the crux of it is that saying that fat doesn't make you fat is exactly the same type of misinformation as saying that sugar does make you fat. Neither statement is entirely true.
It's ALL about BALANCE.
Want to know if fat makes you fat? Eat a packet of bacon twice per day for three weeks and let me know how many pairs of XXL pants you need to buy. The truth is that EVERY food can make you fatter if you eat too much of it, or don't eat a balanced diet around it. Eating a high fat diet can make you fatter, as can eating a high carbohydrate diet.
What you need to aim for is to stop thinking about what does or doesn't make you fatter, and start thinking about what your body is designed to run on to thrive. You'll find the vegetables and fruits will take care of more than 80% of your body's nutritional needs without increasing your weight. Then just get the rest in balance around that.
