Do you often cook and prepare your meals with butter?
If you do, you could be adding more calories to your meals than you may realise.
Here are a few alternative ways to prepare meals and snacks without the use of butter.
Opt for cooking sprays instead of adding spoonfuls of butter to your pot or saucepan when cooking. The cooking spray may serve the same purpose and may be hundreds of calories lower too!
If you have not tried air popped popcorn before then perhaps it’s time that you give it a try. It requires no butter, fat or oils whatsoever and is simply delicious! You may never know the difference between popcorn made in butter and that which is made without!
You can always opt to use other cooking methods instead of those that require you to add butter, fat or oils to them. For example, instead of frying eggs opt for poached or boiled eggs. Similarly, try preparing vegetables by steaming them, instead of grilling them and glazing with butter.
Try to find other ways to cut down on butter, even if it means using a small quantity. Remember that every small reduction in butter is a reduction in calories and this will help you to keep the weight down.
