Before you lift that spoon, fork, or cup up to your lips, consider doing these super-straightforward things every time you sit down to eat. Trust us, they'll make dropping pounds so much easier.
1. Drink this. Grab a big glass of water, and drink half of it before even starting your meal. It'll help you feel fuller faster, so you won't over eat.
2. Eat veggies at every meal. Yes, even breakfast! Throw broccoli and beans in your smoothie, mushrooms and tomatoes into your omelet, or zucchini into your oatmeal. For lunch and dinner, aim for half your plate to be filled with veggies—maybe that means making your meal into one enormous salad sans lettuce. However you spin it, loading up on veggies is an easy way to fill up without eating tons of calories. Consider grains and protein to an accent to your meal.
3. Add more nutrients to your plate. You can't live on carbs alone (a girl can dream, right?). And if you tend to feel groggy after your morning bowl of cereal or your midday pasta, it could be because you're not getting enough fiber and protein in your meal. Since fiber makes you feel full for longer and protein sustains your energy while keeping hunger at bay, they're important nutrients to nosh on at every meal. Try to get at least 25 grams of fiber and between 50 and 100 grams of protein per day (depending on your activity level).
