After Rachel Frederickson won The Biggest Loser on Tuesday by dropping 155 pounds and 60 percent of her body weight, it seemed like everyone had something to say about the controversial transformation. Now, Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper speaks out about the shocking reveal. Here’s what he said during a recent taping of The Rachael Ray Show:
“What people don’t understand is, when the contestants leave to go home…they’re in charge of themselves. So I had not seen her until that night, and so when she walked out, I was just kind of like, whoa. And I’ve been on the show since the beginning.”
While he didn’t comment on how healthy he thought the transformation was, it definitely sounds like he was surprised. Harper went on to say, “I was stunned. That would be the word. I mean, we’ve never had a contestant come in at 105 pounds.”
Though every person’s weight-loss journey is different, experts say there may be health consequences to losing that much weight that quickly. But Frederickson defended herself in a recent interview with Us Weekly, stressing that her main goals are to be healthy and strong.
