Losing weight isn’t easy, but then again it isn’t hard either. The truth is that it is very simple – and you don’t need the help of any of those fad diets or crazy measuring systems. Just two small tricks will make you lose weight as if by magic! And you know what? I’m going to tell you them, right here, right now.
A) The first step, is to keep away from dangerous substances. In particular, the worst “food” of them all, high fructose corn syrup. Now, there are two big reasons that this needs to be avoided:
1) Corn syrup interferes with the parts of your brain responsible for detecting whether you are full or not. The result of this, is that even when you are completely full, you might still feel hungry. Obviously I don’t need to go into details as to why this is bad – suffice it to say, the more corn syrup you eat, the more the pounds will pile on!
2) Two words: Insulin response. Eating fructose corn syrup causes your blood sugar to sky-rocket, leading to an out-of-control reaction telling your body to turn as much energy into fat as possible… and them immediately after, the overreaction makes you feel hungry again right away.
Any foods containing this corn syrup are to be avoided at all costs, at least unless you are TRYING to give yourself diabetes, of course! Try and stick to foods that, if not healthy, at least don’t cause the same level of out-of-control response.
B) Regularly eat small meals, all through the day. Nowadays, with all these convenience meals, fast food and microwave cookery, people tend to try and spend as little time with food as they possibly can. The problem with this is that if you cut your daily meals down to three, two, or even one a day, you may feel like you are doing well and losing weight, but in actual fact the opposite is happening. Ideally, you should eat three to six small meals, spaced throughout the day, and here’s why.
Eating smaller meals has three major advantages:
1. Frequent meals, means that there is always something in your stomach, so you won’t feel hungry. And if you don’t feel hungry, you won’t have any reason to snack on unhealthy junk foods!
2. Digesting food requires energy, and so eating more often means that your metabolic rate will be higher. As you know, a higher metabolic rate means that more energy gets burned even when you’re not doing anything.
3. Keeping your meals small and frequent, rather then big and rare, means that your insulin response is lower. This means that it is also good for treating – and preventing – diabetes.
So as you can tell, there are a number of benefits to eating small, regular meals throughout the day.
Naturally this isn’t everything there is to know about weight loss, and there are a huge number of further things you can do. Still, you have to start somewhere, and these two small, simple steps, are all you need to begin your journey to a better you! Remember, there’s more to dieting then exercise and celery sticks, and now you know two tricks more then most!
