There’s an old weight loss adage – ‘Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper’.
While most of the world’s population ends up eating their dinner before 8-9 pm, Indians usually have a very late dinner time. A late dinner is horrible for weight loss since the body’s metabolism is slower during the night and will burn fewer calories. Studies have found that at night our liver works on the stored glycogen and hence regulates the blood sugar levels of our body. Giving our body more calories, that too late at night, can therefore be a nail in the coffin for your weight loss goals.
This is why you should avoid having a late dinner and also avoid high-carb and large meals late at night which favours fat deposition. And it makes those who are insulin resistant are more vulnerable. So if you’re planning to lose weight, remember to eat less, and on time!
