Healthy low-calorie dessert: Banana and chocolate cake
Being on a weight loss plan does not always mean that you give up on your favourite desserts. You can prepare healthier versions like this banana and chocolate cake at home. Prepared with whole wheat flour, this cake is rich in fibre that aids weight loss and helps lower the risk of diabetes. Whole wheat flour is also rich in nutrients, B group vitamins, folic acid, calcium and iron. The addition of jaggery instead of sugar also makes this cake a low-calorie one.
Ingredients:
Whole wheat flour – ¾ cup
Baking powder – 1tsp
Baking soda – ½ tsp
Jaggery powder – ½ cup
Bananas (Elaichi) – 2
Egg – 1
Curd – ¼ cup
Milk – ½ cup
Vanilla essence – 2 to 3 drops
Rice bran oil – 1 tbsp
Chocolate chip (pieces) – 1 or 2 tbsp
Method:
Sieve the dry ingredients twice and mix well with a whisk.
Mash the bananas in a mixer.
Add egg and blend well.
Add to the dry mixture.
Beat curd and add to mixture.
Add oil and milk.
Add the chocolate pieces. Leave some to add on top.
Adjust consistency of batter with milk.
Pour into a baking dish.
Add the remaining chocolate shavings on top.
Microwave on 50% power for 6 to 7 minutes and then on 100% power for 1 or 2 minutes.
Check to see if it’s done.
Serve it warm.
