Healthy weight loss recipe: Oats dumplings

Are you on a weight loss plan? Now prepare dumplings with rolled oats and enjoy your favourite dish guilt-free. Oats is loaded with fibre and aids weight loss and helps lower cholesterol.  It also has mild anti-depressant and mood-elevating properties.

Ingredients

  • Oats – 1 cup
  • Water – ¾ cup
  • Salt – to taste

For tempering

  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • Urad Dal – ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves (few) – pieces

Method

  • Dry roast oats to get a nice aroma and keep aside.
  • Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds. When it splutters, add urad dal and curry leaves.
  • Add salt and water.
  • To the boiling water, add roasted oats.
  • Stir till the oats cook and become sticky.
  • Let it cool slightly.
  • Grease your palm with little oil and make balls out of the oats mixture.
  • If the mixture gets dry, sprinkle little water on it
  • Steam the oat balls for 5 to 7 minutes.
