How Khyati lost weight not once but twice!

Khyati Rupani was 25 when she was diagnosed with PCOS. Being overweight did not help her condition in any way and she also suffered from slipped disc that further prevented her from weight training. Despite these, she managed to lose weight. She also got pregnant and put on additional weight which she had to shed all over again post pregnancy. Today, she is the proud founder of Balance Nutrition and helps people lose weight in a healthy way. Here’s how she did it.

Khyati was 75 kg during her 20s and her weight shot up to 88 kg during her pregnancy. But she’s now 57 kg after her weight loss.

Ironically she was doing her masters in nutrition but did not pay attention to her health. Her staple diet was fried foods like puris, chivda, farsan, soft drinks, desserts and oily gravies. All these and no exercise made her gain weight rapidly and her periods became irregular. After a few tests, Khyati came to know that she was suffering from PCOS. How she did it

Her weight loss journey began with portion control. She decided to cut down on junk food and have healthier options for all her meals. Brown rice, fresh vegetables, pulses, paneer, muesli, and rotis made of bajra, ragi and makai replaced colas, desserts and butter-laden gravies.

These not only kept her full for a longer time but also helped her lose weight. Her weight dropped to 76 kg. But she realised she also had to exercise to lose weight. Khyati had to undergo surgery for her slipped disc. After this, she could not do heavy workouts as it affected her back. But she began walking and later did aerobics and joined a gym. And within three months her weight dropped to 64 kg.

As Khyati lost weight, her health also became better. Her periods got more regular and despite PCOS, she conceived naturally. Her pregnancy was normal, but in the nine months she did put on weight again. So after she had her baby, she knew she had to get back in shape. She began her journey again by eating right and doing exercises her body accepted. All these helped her shed weight and today she stands tall at 57 kg.

Now Khyati maintains her weight by eating right and exercising. Though she admits she has cheat days when she eats out but she makes healthier choices. Less oil, more veggies are part of her standard order. She avoids following fad diets and includes green tea, aloe vera, chia seeds and flaxseeds in her diet.
