The truth is that thousands of people who try to lose weight fail in their attempts. This can be down to a variety of reasons, some of which can include fad diets, dubious products, lack of belief, lack of motivation and willpower and lack of consistency.
Most people are ill prepared for weight loss and they usually have a vague approach to it. A vague approach will lead to minimal if any results. Failure can be hard psychologically on a person. Failure will affect confidence and self esteem and it will lead to half hearted attempts in the future.
Successful weight loss requires good planning if you are to succeed. Plan your weight loss program with thought and detail and you will succeed, it's as simple as that. Most people wanting to lose weight have no real plan. They will say that they want to lose some weight and they will go on a diet to achieve this. In all honesty this is hardly a plan. It is more of a hope or wish, and hopes and wishes do not make things happen.
There are a number of steps that are required if you really want to lose weight, and only you can go through these steps. At the end of the day, whether you succeed or fail is down to you. Do not feel that you have to rely on a particular diet or a particular product. When you fail to lose weight it gives you an excuse to blame whatever method you were using and absolves you of any responsibility.
So many people hide behind weight loss products and diets that didn't work for them. They say that they have tried various diets but never got the results, so it isn't their fault. This is not the way to approach successful weight loss. Take your health into your own hands and don't give the responsibility to others, after all it is your life and nobody can care more about your health than yourself. You have to do it.
The first step is to try and evaluate where you are now and what your future will hold if you do nothing. Spend some time really thinking about things. How do you feel about yourself deep down? Be brutally honest about things, and do not lie to yourself. Where do you see your life in a year's time, or 3 years or 5 years time? Then think about how you would like to be and what would be different about you if you could reach your goal.
Do not start saying to yourself that it will never happen. You have to eliminate this thought otherwise you are telling yourself to fail. How can you succeed at something if you believe it is not possible? Just drum the thought into your mind that this is going to be one of your major goals in life and a priority. You are going to do all you can to get where you want to be.
The next step is food and how you are going to change your eating habits. You don't need to get caught up in the trap of buying particular foods which are designed for weight loss. You don't need to waste your money on these types of products. It is all a question of common sense. Cut out foods that contain fat and sugar and replace them with healthier options.
You don't need to be a nutritionist to know what is good for you or bad for you. Stop spreading your calories over 2 or 3 meals, make your meals smaller and have 5 or 6 meals a day. This method will make your metabolism far more effective.
The third step is to exercise. Most people cringe when they think about exercise. This is mainly because they are under the impression that exercise will be too difficult. This doesn't have to be the case. You start slowly and do not do anything that is going to stretch you beyond what you are capable of. If you do not exercise and you suddenly start going to the gym four times a week, of course it's going to be a nightmare.
Start slowly and build up more over time. Your body will get used to whatever you are doing fairly quickly and you will then be able to do a bit more, and then a bit more, as your body becomes fitter, don't fear exercise just set yourself small challenges and goals, and keep increasing them when you reach them.
The final step is consistency. Don't think that if you don't see any major results in the first few weeks it isn't working. Just keep doing what you need to be doing again and again. Make it a habit, a part of your life. Given time your body will change, it has no choice. Your body will respond to your physical habits regardless of what they are. Take the bull by the horns and make it happen and have no doubt in your mind that you can lose weight.
