Many times we want to lose weight quickly and easily, but we often forget to look at the big picture at how we need to achieve that goal. The most important thing you can do in keeping weight off is to eat healthy and exercise regularly. If you go on a crash diet or a fad diet you will lose weight but if you don't retrain yourself and your body the weight won't stay off. Fad diets may give you short term success. The only sure way to lose weight is to retrain yourself to eat and exercise correctly. There are quick, easy ways to lose weight, but "quick" is sometimes a relative term. Think, "weeks and months," rather than "days."
If you want to lose weight fast and easy, just drink eight to ten glasses of water a day. The majority of foods nowadays contain excessive sodium, which may result in extra retention of fluids. You can actually rid yourself of many pounds of water weight, in only a few weeks, if you seek to balance your water and sodium intakes, thereby flushing your system of excess water.
A daily regimen of eating breakfast coupled with eating small but frequent meals will promote fast weight loss. It is never a good thing to starve yourself when trying to lose weight. The best time to exercise is when you first get up, this way you give your metabolism a jump start and it's easier to keep burning calories if you give your body a good workout first thing in the morning. Eat foods that have a low glycemic index, which means getting rid of a lot of your refined sugars during the day. Avoid saturated fats found in butter and red meat and instead consume polyunsaturated fats found in fish, olive oil and nuts.
Come up with lower calorie substitutions and the best way to lose weight is to look at the kinds of foods you eat now. If you drink whole milk or 2% milk, try skim milk instead - the taste has improved over the years. If you enjoy ice cream, try freezing a non fat or low fat yogurt and flavoring it with frozen blueberries. If you love the sodium fix from potato chips, get the baked version or try tortilla chips instead.
Exercise is also very important to weight loss. If you are even the slightest bit serious about losing weight, you are going to have to implement an exercise regime. A simple thirty minute workout is all you will need to do. This workout will have to be high intensity. This might sound intimidating, but it is rather easy to do. What I personally do is jump on the treadmill or go to my local track and begin with a warm-up. After warming up for five to ten minutes, begin sprinting for 45 seconds, then follow with a 2 minute brisk jog. Continue the pattern of the 45 second sprint and 2 minute jog for five or six times, and your workout is done in around 30 minutes!
