Curb Cravings

In the age of Krispy Crème donuts and high calorie blended coffee drinks it's no wonder so many Americans have problems with their weight. You don't even have to be a person who makes bad food choices to have a weight problem. Some people have to fight their genetic dispositions, which make them naturally overweight.

One of the most important things to consider when developing a weight loss program is portion control. For many people gaining weight isn't a matter of eating the wrong things, it's a matter of eating too much at a time. Every time I go to a restaurant I am amazed at just how large the servings are. Most people should eat half of the typical serving available at most restaurants.

Getting Your Eating Under Control

Another thing to consider when developing a weight loss program is to make choices that promote healthy living. Many people don't realize that high fat foods actually make you crave more high fat foods. You can actually develop a "fat tooth" which makes you crave high fat foods over healthier alternatives. Once you curb your "fat tooth" you will notice that you naturally lean towards healthy, whole foods instead.

Many people turn to meditation, yoga and other calming activities to help curb cravings. One of the main reasons people overeat is stress. When you create a healthy stress management system you greatly increase your chances of weight loss success. If you think you don't have time to fit relaxing activities into your daily schedule, it's time to rethink your priorities.
