Perhaps the biggest misconceptions of them all when it comes to weight-loss; "I can't help that I am overweight because I have big bones". Yes, I have heard it before. It is only an excuse not a reason. We do come in different body shapes, some are small framed and others are a larger frame and we can vary with our weight range. But big bones or small makes no difference when it comes to weight-loss. There is a normal range for every body type. In my experience people use this excuse to let them off the hook to change their life style. If they only took small little steps to improve their life style and improve their intake of nutrition, they will soon see the benefits for themselves. By thinking that they are big boned will stop them from achieving good health and wellbeing.
"If I stop eating and take supplements, I will lose weight". The body needs a certain amount of calories to function. Not getting enough results in a sluggish metabolism. A healthy diet is essential to your wellbeing. Supplements can be used in conjunction with a healthy diet. However, diet alone will not help you shed those difficult kilos. An active lifestyle is also necessary, not only for weight-loss but also weight-maintained. It is all about finding a balance. Supplements are only used to enhance your nutrition intake.
"Taking too many supplements/vitamins makes you constipated". Supplements and Vitamins can make you constipated if you don't drink sufficient water through out the day. It is recommended that individuals drink at least 8 glasses a day, whether they are taking supplements or not. Your body needs to be hydrated to flush out toxins and to replace fluid loss. To consume this amount of water per day, always carry a water bottle or at home have a jug on the bench, so every time you walk past it reminds you to take a drink a glass of water. If you wait until you are thirsty, the body is already dehydrating.
"Missing meals will help me lose weight". When the body is not being refueled during the day, it goes into starvation mode. You usually get the hunger pains going in the afternoon. Then you might want to have a snack on something and then you find yourself wanting more food and then you usually continue eating anything and everything in sight. This won't keep the body in balance.
The price of Health is too expensive". I get this statement all the time. I have to ask, "compared with what"? When you consider the alternative, doctor visits, waiting endlessly in waiting rooms. Then there's the chemist, getting prescribed medications. An added cost to your pocket. The benefits are getting up in the morning and feeling energized with the energy you need for the day. No Sick days off work, you will be able to keep going for longer and still feel great. Be able to have the body shape you want and to look good in your clothes. Everyone will say how great you look.
