I'd like to share a great tip with you that's sure to help you lose weight if you follow some very simple advice. This isn't a fad diet or some magic pill, and is probably more helpful than either of those.
Everyone is looking for something simple and fast to help them lose weight. We get caught up in all the hype of the latest diet craze and lose sight of the simple things that really work the best.
Ready for the advice? Here you go…you can have anything you want to eat, but you have to sit down at the table to eat it. Now see…that's not so hard, is it? I know what your thinking…"how is that going to help me lose weight?"
Isn't it real easy to sit in your recliner watching tv, and ask your spouse or one of the kids to get you a bowl of ice cream or popcorn. It sure is convenient to grab some cookies off the kitchen counter as your heading outside to work in the yard. "Running late for work, let me just grab one of these cinnamon rolls", as you head out the door for your morning commute.
These are examples of what most of us do each day. We make it too easy to gain weight! Think about this for a second. What if you told yourself that you were not going to eat "anything" unless you were sitting down at the kitchen table, without a tv on and without anything to read? You were going to sit at the table and eat whatever it is your stomach desires. Those cookies, that cinnamon roll, that ice cream….whatever you want, but you must be sitting at the table, not watching tv or reading anything.
Here is whats going to happen when you do this. You're sitting in the living room watching tv and you think…"some ice cream sure would be good right now", but you know that to have that ice cream, you've got to get up and go to the table to eat it. Chances are you're going to think twice about having that ice cream aren't you? Feel like enjoying that bag of chips? You can have all you want as long as you sit down at the kitchen table to eat them. And it's important that the tv isn't on and you're not reading a newspaper or magazine. Why? Well, if you're watching tv or reading, you can experience a form of "hypnosis", and you'll sit there and eat without realizing how much your eating. You're probably familiar with what I'm talking about. Haven't you ever been really engrossed in a good movie with a tub of popcorn, then the next thing you know your scratching around on the bottom of the tub and there's nothing but kernels? Most people don't realize how easy it is to overeat when we're totally involved in another activity.
Yes…all this does sound way too simple to work, doesn't it? I'd like to challenge you to try it for a couple of weeks though and just see what happens! Your mind and body won't be in that "diet mode", so you're not always craving what you're not supposed to eat. You can have anything you want, but you're going to find that it's easier not to eat than it is to inconvenience yourself by having to go sit at the table. And if you do choose to sit down with a bag of chips, you'll be more consciously aware of how much you're eating so chances are you won't have as much. As simple as it sounds, I've given this little bit of advice to many people over the years and you'd be amazed at how many have called me up later and told me how easy and how well this works! Follow this simple plan and see how easy it is to lose those extra pounds!
