There are only a few things that you can do to decrease your weight. You can be more active, eat less or eat differently. That’s no news to you, but do you know how to effectively act on these principles? Let’s see how to lose weight easily using these three methods.
1. Be More Active.
Don’t moan. Being more active doesn’t mean to sign up for a marathon next week. Start slowly and increase the level when you feel comfortable with it. Start with an after-dinner walk around the block. It’s not too hard, is it? Soon enough, the short walk will turn into 30 minutes per day. For those who live or work in a high-rise building, try using the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator on occasion. Obviously, don’t go up 100 flights of stairs at first! You can also try to park a block away and walk a little more on your way to work. Why not play outside with your kid or your dog? You’ll both enjoy it.
2. Eat Less.
A lot of people struggle with eating less but they shouldn’t. There are many tricks that you can use to eat less. Fool your eyes by having your meal on a smaller plate. After all, if food doesn’t fit on your plate, you won’t eat it, right? If you want to have a feast, simply use a lot of very small bowls and put them on the table in front of you. Arrange them by colors and make your feast look impressive and delicious. You can also help fill your stomach with a deliciously refreshing glass of water. Use your imagination and be creative.
3. Eat Differently.
You can really make a difference with this one. Start with small changes and once you’ve developed healthier habits, take it a small step further. Perhaps you don’t particularly love pretzels. How big of a deal would it be to stop eating pretzels all together? Try including more fruit and veggies into your diet. If you love strawberries, have some. If fresh fruit is out of season, have some frozen fruit. A lot of people insist that you should eat food “close to the earth”. What does it even mean? Basically, try to eat food in its original form if possible, and if not, the smallest amount of processing is the second best option. Organic food is believed to be the best in both health benefits and flavor.
One change that you could make would be to use brown rice with olive oil and sea salt as a substitute to a boxed rice mix. The flavor will amaze you and your body won’t have to deal with all the added chemicals, calories, preservatives and salt. Avoid eating “white foods”, which include white bread, white rice, donuts, bleached wheat products, etc. These white foods are filled with calories yet they don’t have many nutrients. They simply add fat to your problem zone, whatever it is for you (hips, thighs or stomach).
The suggestions mentioned here are only the tip of the iceberg. Be creative and come up with your own healthier habits. Stick to the basic three principles and your weight will go down.
