Tricks to Stop Chocolate Cravings

Milk chocolate, white chocolate, semi-sweet or dark chocolate cravings all have one thing in common: they can be very overwhelming to the person who experiences them and can lead to shame when the craving is not resisted. There are ways to stop chocolate cravings in people's lives who are more inclined to over-indulge in this type of a treat. When eating too much chocolate, the person may experience a shaking in their body due to the sugar and the caffeine in the chocolate. If it is eaten late at night, the individual may find that he is less able to sleep for the same reasons, and with sleep disrupted, he is even more likely to overindulge in the sweet treat due to fatigue and depression.

Avoidance

One of the best ways to stop chocolate cravings is to refuse to keep straight chocolate in the home. Instead, there are other alternative foods that have a chocolate flavor to them but do not have the fat and calories that chocolate has. There are things like hot chocolate in the winter that is a good choice to fulfill a chocolate craving without all of the calories. There are also a lot of low fat or non fat mousses and puddings that are flavored in chocolate so that the individual gets the rich effect of the chocolate without the fat,

Another way to stop chocolate cravings is to distract the mind for a certain amount of time. The cravings usually only last about twenty minutes or so. If the individual can find something to do immediately when she has the craving, then the craving will usually pass and she will forget about it. One way to do this is to go for a walk. This is beneficial in several ways, one of which is that it gets her out of the house where the chocolate is hosted. Additionally, it allows her to get some exercise which boosts her feeling of wellness and happiness. That way, when she gets back to the home, she is less likely to cave in to her craving, and she may find that the chocolate craving stopped while she was on the walk. Another way to stop the chocolate craving is to chew gum or to brush the teeth. In this way, the mouth has something to do and also has a sweet taste in it which will often distract the mind from the chocolate craving. If this is not enough, there are also some foods that can be consumed that will help to stop the chocolate craving because they do not go well with the chocolate, such as pickled onions.
