How to Prevent Sugar Cravings

So you want to lose some weight or otherwise just get in shape and be healthy. Well if so, then one of the first things you are going to have to do is learn how to prevent sugar cravings before they even start. Sugar cravings, whether they are pregnancy cravings or other, can be extremely difficult to ignore, which is why you want to prevent them right from the very get go.

Understand Them

Before you can properly prevent sugar cravings, you are going to have to understand about them, which means learning a bit more about them and why you experience them. Sugar cravings are a real problem for most people, and the biggest problem is that the majority of these people simply don’t know how to deal with them and end up giving in.

Although giving in to these sorts of sugar cravings every now and again is certainly not a huge deal, if you want to stay in shape and be healthy, you are going to need to learn how to prevent sugar cravings, especially if you get them frequently, such as after every meal.

One of the main reasons that people have sugar cravings is because of low adrenal function. The adrenals are hormone glands that sit above the kidneys, and one of their jobs is to secrete adrenaline which provides us with energy. When everything is working well and there are no problems, you will rarely experience sugar cravings.

However, when there is a problem and something is interfering with the function of the adrenals, you will notice that you have sugar cravings. Stress is a number one factor here, as you may notice that the more stressed you get, the more sugar cravings you have. When your body is depleted of energy, you start craving sugar because your body needs a boost of adrenaline.

But you must realize that the best thing to give your body at these times is not sugar, but in fact healthy foods.

Preventing Them

To prevent sugar cravings, you first need to see whether or not you meet the criteria or someone who has something wrong with their adrenals. If you find that you are often fatigued, need to take naps through the day, and have cravings for sugar or caffeine, then the answer is yes, you probably do.

Taking adrenal supplements is probably the best thing that you can do, at least until you get your condition under control and start eating a healthier diet.
