If they cannot, then the person begins to feel sluggish and will begin to have these salt craving symptoms.

One solution to this type of salt craving symptom is to start to eat sea salt rather than refined salt. Refined salt takes out most of the trace minerals and other nutrients that are found in sea salt. The individual should check the label to see if the sea salt has been refined before buying it so that it is in as close to its natural form as possible.

Another way to help with salt craving symptoms is to take some other mineral supplements that help the body to maintain the salt level in it. Protein that is low in fat is helpful since this can also help the adrenal gland to stay healthy. When an individual is under a lot of stress the adrenal gland sometimes starts to slow down the production of the hormone that allows the blood to maintain the proper sodium levels in it. Sometimes the person might be deficient in his manganese level, and taking a supplement will help to raise it which also helps him to maintain the proper sodium level. Salt craving symptoms can also point to other dysfunctions in the body such as diabetes. Women often find that they will crave more salt when they are in the PMS part of their menstrual cycle, which is because of the changing hormone levels which affect the sodium in the blood.
