You have to remember that when you are thinking of how to lose weight, calories are not all you need to worry about there are many more important things you need to keep in mind. What is important is that not all calories you eat are the same. They all make you fat though, if you eat too many of them!
What I mean if I say all calories are not the same is that some calories come from healthy food and other from “junk†food. When you are trying to lose weight and you are limiting the amount of calories you eat, it is very important that they all come from healthy food to make sure your body gets all the nutrition it needs.
When you cannot eat a lot it is very important to say away from all “empty†calories. Empty calories are the calories that only supply calories and not other nutrition. A very good example is soda. Your average soda is loaded with calories from the sugar in it and it provides no nutrition at all.
Another important factor to keep in mind is that certain kinds of food do not digest as fast as others. When you eat these kinds of food they use up a lot of calories in the digestion process and thus you can say they have “less†calories than another kind with the same amount of calories.
A very good example here is an apple and a slice of white bread. They both have more or less the same amount of calories but the bread will be more fattening than the apple.
So, when you are thinking about how to lose weight, calories are not the only thing you need to keep in mind.
